Amongst the goals of the Producers Groups in Bangladesh is to organize rural destitute women and provide them with skills and education for the production of handcrafts as a supplementary source of income for their socioeconomic development. These groups also initiate welfare activities for these women such as housing, educational, recreational and health care facilities for better living conditions. While teaching them the production of handcrafts Bangladesh is also able to preserve their tradition while allowing these women to advance in society.
